This year’s Worldwide Developers Conference started from June 5, and Apple unveiled the next major operating system for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch – iOS 11 at WWDC 2017 keynote. What’s New in iOS 11 for iPhone iPad

  • New customizable Dock that lets you quickly access your favorite and frequently used apps and documents.
  • New App Switcher design makes it easier for you to see all apps you are using, and thus you can quickly switch apps.
  • Better Multitasking
  • System-wide drag and drop that allows you to move images, text, links, and more between apps or documents.
  • Apple Pencil integrated into iPad Pro more deeply with the support for inline drawing. Besides, you are also able to open Notes app from the lock screen by tapping an Apple Pencil on the display.

Which Devices Are Compatible With iOS 11

iOS 11 is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with 64-bit processors. That is to say, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c and iPad 4 won’t be able to install iOS 11. And here are iOS 11 supported devices:

  • iPhone 5s and later
  • iPad mini 3 and later
  • iPad Air/Pro
  • iPod touch (six generation)

How to Install iOS 11 Beta

Currently, the first iOS beta is available to developers, and the version beta for public testers is expected to be released in late June or early July.

iOS 11 Release Date

Apple released iOS 10 on September 13 last year. So far, what we can confirm is that Apple will launch iOS 11 in this fall, along with iPhone 8 and iPhone X. Considering the release date of new iOS version over the past 5 years, iOS 11 may be released between September 15 ~20.
