Proximity sensor should ideally work when we answer phones. And when we pick up the phone and talk, the screen would sleep. But some people may encounter the issue after updating to iOS 11.3, irrespecive of whether people get a phone or not, proximity sensor is always on. When people use an app, if they just hover hand over proximity sensor, the screen blacks out. How to solve such issue? Please refer to the detailed instructions to solve this issue.
- If your device type is an iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus, please press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Next, press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, please press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
- If your device type is an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, please press and hold both the Side and Volume Down buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
- If your device type is an iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad, or iPod touch, please press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
