How to Fix Face ID is Disabled
1. Check iOS version on device.
Please check whether your iPhone X/iPhone XS/iPhone XS Max is running the latest version of iOS. (Go to Settings on device > General > Software Update.)
2. Check your Face ID settings.
Please check whether you have set up Face ID and you have turned on the functions you use Face ID for. (Go to Settings on device > Face ID & Passcode.)
3. Make sure that the TrueDepth camera is not covered by something.
A phone case, a screen protector, dirt, or water can cover the TrueDepth camera. Please kindly remove them.
4. Make sure that the TrueDepth camera is in front of your face.
5. Check whether your face is covered by something.
A mask, scarf or sunglasses can cover your face. Please remove them.
6. Add a new appearance.
If you look different as before, please follow the steps below to add a new appearance.
a. Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Enter your passcode.
b. Tap Set Up an Alternate Appearance.
c. Look at the front camera straightly and move your head to complete the circle.
d. Tap Continue when the first Face ID scan finishes.
e. Move your heard again to complete the second scan.
f. Tap Done when Face ID setup finishes.
7. Reset Face ID.
If the suggestions above don’t work, please go to Settings, choose Face ID & Passcode and choose Reset Face ID to reset Face ID again.
